Hello to the group
« on: October 23, 2012, 08:32:42 PM »
Hello,
just joined the forum.

Located on the island of Crete in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Living on the mountains with two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and few other animals...

Got my David stations up and running, feeding WeatherLink IP beginning of 2011 after I realized that the weather station I previously had was not accurate and not fit for the extreme weather of the island - very hot in the summer and very stormy in the winter with some snow as well.

I decided to upgrade my weather setup to something with more 'style'... So, here is the project:

Install a NAS, Synology DS412, 12TB (not only for weather)
Install LWC to convert/import data (already started the struggle, see questions under General Discussion)
Install WeatherCat after having old data on LWC (at least the .wlk files)
Install Webcam, Mobotix M24
Create Web Site
Enjoy Christmas.

For sure you will see several requests for help in the coming days so, thanks for your help in advance.

George

Hello George and WeatherCat fans,  [cat]

By all means welcome!!

You certainly have an interesting location for a weather station being on Crete.  I hope you will share with us a bit more about how your station is setup.  I'd love to see a picture or two of your surroundings.

Once you get past all the hurdles, I think you will really enjoy using WeatherCat.  [computer]

Feel free to ask any additional questions you might have.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Best wishes

Welcome to the WeatherCat forum, George!

That sounds like a great plan. I'm also eager to see what your installation and the surrounding area look like. We always enjoy photos around here. I'm also interested to see how the M24 camera works for you. I have a Sharx Security wireless IP camera that is excellent quality but only 640X480 resolution. A better camera will be on my shopping list one of these days. The Mobotix is interesting in that it has interchangeable lenses, from 15˚ way up to 180˚ http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/content/view/full/1551

I'm glad you found us,
Steve
