Admin emails
« on: May 16, 2024, 05:37:33 AM »
Recently I switched to iCloud for email and now WC can't send emails.  ISP is Cox as it was before changing email to iCloud ... it worked as expected before changing my email address.

my iCloud password didn't work so I generated an Apple app specific password and entered it into WC.  I tried it with and without the dashes ...  neither way worked.

SMTP server:  smtp.mail.me.com
port:  587
authentication is checked
ISP: Cox.
M1 Mac, Sonoma 14.5

quit then opened WC and restarted my computer.  so far, nothing has worked.

I have tried both test buttons and get this response:  'mail test failed"

I must be missing something and hope one of you experts can point me in the right direction!

As always, THANKS!

Anyone else doing fine with iCloud and WeatherCat? (Re: Admin emails)

Dear drewaz and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

Recently I switched to iCloud for email and now WC can't send emails.  ISP is Cox as it was before changing email to iCloud ... it worked as expected before changing my email address.

Unfortunately, it is getting more and more difficult to use standard services to send emails from WeatherCat.  Corporations are trying to encourage you to use webmail services in order to . .. . track your activities better (whatever they may claim.)  Instead of using Apple for emails from WeatherCat, I use my web hosting provider.  However, I still use the 3rd party email client Postbox.  That is working fine for me.  Are others still using iCloud for WeatherCat emails?  If so, do they note any adjustments that are necessary to make it work?

Edouard

thank you Edouard.

I was able to use gmail to finally get the WC emails sent.  I turned on 2FA and created a gmail app specific password and it's working.

I tried iCloud, Yahoo and Hotmail but they didn't work.

so ....  now I'm updated my OS to Sonoma and all fingers are crossed!  I'll be back if I run into problems.

thanks again.
