Hello Everyone!
I have just purchased and installed WeatherCat v3.2. I've set it up on an older Mac Mini running Catalina (10.15.7), data coming from a Davis Vantage Vue through a Davis WeatherLink data logger (6510USB). This software replaces WeatherSnoop which seems to have disappeared from the marketplace without a trace left behind.
While setting up WeatherCat I’ve learned a bit about the app’s outgoing email handling that is not covered in the manual, or at least I’ve not found it there.
My test email were failing with the log showing only time out in the limited log that I can see. I had entered the correct credentials that work on all of my other devices and services I use. I read the manual, searched this forum and tried a several variants of the email setup without success. One forum poster found success by installing Xcode. I installed Xcode 12.4 with no improvement. Then downloaded and installed CLT 12.4 over the top of Xcode, restarted machine and no improvement.
By the way, Xcode 12.4 is as far along that chain as one may go under Catalina. If anyone else needs 12.4, it’s been moved on the Apple site. It can be found at:
https://developer.apple.com/download/all/?q=Xcode%2012.4Even better, in general is:
https://xcodereleases.comThis site provides links to Apple Xcode archives. One does need an Apple Developer account for both of the above. Apples free developer account is sufficient to obtain these files, no need to sign up for the $100/year option.
Next I installed the latest Python version directly from the Python official site.
THEN I discovered that WeatherCat does not support SMTPS on port 465 but only on port 587. Switching to port 587 on WC solved my outgoing mail issue ... although I suppose the other things may have been needed also.
Anyway .... Hello to all. Maybe some of my writing above will help someone.
Best Regards to all......
