As for email, try to avoid the free services that spy on you like google. Webhost email can be pretty awful too.

I pay for FastMail.com and can add as many domains as I want and have custom domain email at each domain. There are lots of email providers out there. For a few dollars a month, I'm not the spied on product being sold, and I don't have to deal with 365 mail or hosting service email.

Food for thought.

Late to the replies, but I agree with XAir that separating your services is good policy. Don't use a web host to also run your DNS and your domain registration as well - that's all three of your most important eggs in one basket/provider. I use one company as a web host and run my DNS and domain registrar through Cloudflare.

If you don't mind me asking, are you using the free product at Cloudflare or are you paying for more options?

I'm on the free tier for sure, for DNS. Their domain registration is ~ $9/yr which is reasonable for sure. Also, Cloudflare allows me to lock down the account (Fastmail does too) with a TOTOP six digit code and a Yubikey. I use a hardware Yubikey so the accounts are as locked down as possible; ie hacking isn't a concern.

I am very late in replying to this post, but I use PAIRhttps://www.pair.com/solutions/shared/ as my host. Reliable and helpful, reasonably priced. Very good tech support, fast responses via email, but you can call them as well.

For my domain names I use Hover https://www.hover.com/domains.
Good dashboard, reasonably priced and helpful over the phone if needed.

For me, the reasons I use the above is very good customer support, which I think is essential. I left an older host about two years ago as they became unresponsive.
