Controller stops receiving Data from Vantage Pro
« on: May 28, 2021, 01:57:23 PM »
I am new to Weathercat, running on a new imac - Big Sur.  I have the controller open and receiving data OK from my Vantage Pro, BUT after a say 45 minutes the data stops and the clock on the Controller stops.  My iMac may have gone into 'sleep' mode, but not turned off. Is there a setting somewhere in Weathercat that will stop this happening please? The only way around at the moment is to quite WC and then re-launch it!    Thanks. ( from a very new user)

Don't put the computer to sleep, but set it to turn off just the display.  I have found with my imac, that a sleeping computer will only do things such as back up , download updates maybe, but as far as running WC, it has to be awake,  just turn off the display

Mr Aardvark is correct, in that the Mac needs to be awake to continue processing information. In System Preferences --> Energy Saver, tick the checkbox for preventing the computer from sleeping. Your screen can sleep per whatever you have set in the slider, but the Mac remains awake.

We've all run into this as new users, so you are not alone in wondering what's happening.

And, welcome to the WeatherCat user forum!
