Custom Graphs
« on: April 11, 2015, 01:01:38 PM »
Hi,
I had to edit my daily rain after some false recordings (I registered some weird rain recordings probably due to a insect or something that went into my weatherstation....yes weird stuff here in Africa)
My problem now is that although my monthly, yearly etc. stats show the edited data correctly this is not the case with my custom graphs....it still shows the unedited data even after deleting and re-installing a new custom graph. The same with the basic graphs.
So there is now a descrepancy between the graphs data and the stastical data on my custom website.
Is there a way I can fix this ?
Kind regards,
Leon Rossouw.

Hi Leon,
A rain edit won't affect your graphs - there isn't a way it could know the good rain data from the bad; the rain edit overrides the rain for that day for any value that includes the day in its calculations.

If there are only a few rain samples in error, you can edit them with the Data viewer/editor in WeatherCat's Tools menu (just make the values the same as the previous reading in the raw rain column). If there are many to edit (or you need to edit the monthly and annual totals as well) then you're better off with a good text editor (such as TextWrangler) and editing WeatherCat's data files directly. Before doing this, quit WeatherCat and take a backup of your current WeatherCatData folder just in case.

For more information about WeatherCat's data files, see the section 'WeatherCat and Data' in the manual.

Thanks everyone for replying.
To edit this within weathercat would probably be a tedious task.
I know where to find my .cat data file and can open it in text wrangler but I am not sure about the editing.
I see the P, Ph, Pm, and Py data that I need to edit. However there are also thousands of lines.
So my question is ...is there a simple editing method within text wrangler ?
I attach 2 screenshots from my website (www.elandsbergweather.com) to illustrate the descrepancy between my homepages yerly rainfall (displays correctly) and incorrect custom graph for yearly rainfall (falsely high) This is after a simple daily rain edit.
Thank you for WEATHERCAT !!
Regards,
Leon.

The monthly (Pm) and annual (Py) rainfall come from the console, so you'll need to adjust both on the console before editing the fields in the data files (otherwise they'll just jump back up again).
