I have been trying WC 2.0.2 for four days and everything has been working fine. I had to restart the computer today and upon re-opening WC, it attempts to download historical data and fails at record 38 of 512. Then it automatically retries and fails again at the exact same spot. This will go on until I force quit WC.

While WC attempts to download historical data (at about 1 record per second until it hits 38) I can not access anything else in WC.

Data is getting through to WC; I can see the graphs for temperature and wind speed showing data the is current.

I have read through the forums and tried everything I found there to no avail. Any advice or tips on how to make downloading historical data work or on how to disable downloading historical data would be most appreciated.

My setup:

WC 2.0.2 running on a Mac mini 1,2 (4GB RAM, 2.23 GHz Intel Core2 Duo, 80GB hard disk)
Davis Vantage Pro2 connecting to WC via IP (22222)

Nothing connected via USB or Ethernet (running the mini headless and viewing on another computer via screen sharing). Only connection is the power cable.

Computer runs 24/7.

Connect to the logger in your browser and check it for any errors - either record 38 is somehow jamming it or it is failing to respond after that period of time.

Also check the batteries in your console (replace them with new ones) - if they get too low they will stop the logger responding and it may be the voltage is dropping too low whilst the download is in progress.

Thank you for the reply.

The batteries are fresh as of two months ago and the console runs off of AC power anyway, so I doubt that is the issue.

I haven't a clue as to how to access the data logger nor it's records, but I shall attempt to figure it out. Would powering down the console (remove batteries, unplug for wall) clear the logger?

If you are using a real WeatherlinkIP logger you can connect to it using a browser and the ip-address. You will get a yellow screen with the ip settings of the logger, the settings for upload to wl.com and the port number (often 22222) to which  the weatherprogram has to connect.  Sometimes it takes a few tries as the ip-logger seems to busy with other things to listen to port 80.

If you are using VirtualVP or a Meteobridge as a "another brand IP logger" or another non-Davis serial->ip device you will not get that yellow window.

I had exactly the same problem with an IP-logger as it was probably only half redone with the reformatting after I reset the archive interval. It stop always at exactly the same number when returning the archive records. I had to reconnect it to Weatherlink to reset the logger and lost the historical data in the logger.  After that  incident it works without any problem for years now.

I am, in fact, using a Meteobrige connected to the Vantage console via BelfreyBoy data logger cable. This combination has worked flawlessly for several months. A few days ago, Meteobridge was given the capability to additionally connect to a PC via port 2222 and I did so. The problem appeared the first time I restarted WC after being required to reboot the Mac mini.

I did try connecting the Vantage console directly to the mini via data logger cable (eliminating the meteobridge) and then starting up WC, hoping to download or clear historical data but it made no difference. One thing I can't figure out how to do is to switch WC from its current "weather data is available via port 22222" to "weather station data is available via USB"; i.e. the "station selection" screen seen upon first starting up WC.

Problem Solved!

The developer of Meteobridge, upon being notified of the problem, checked his code and fixed the issue. He said it was an "internal buffer overflow situation when archived packets are flowing through in big numbers". That's why it's called "Beta" software!

I downloaded the update and WC now loads all of the historical data upon restart.
