weathercatpad
« on: January 10, 2015, 10:25:06 PM »
I have the weathercatpad app on my ipad, but when connecting my Vantage Pro using a Keyspan 19S serial/ analogue adapter, I get the error message that the Keyspan converter cannot connect. Any suggestions? The weathercatpad is specifically made for the ios system, but no mention is made of the hardware connection needed to connect to the Davis weather station it is supposed to display.

Dear jsstrixology and WeatherCat fans,

Unfortunately, WeatherCatPad cannot connect directly to your weather station.  WeatherCatPad is a client of the Macintosh WeatherCat program and can only get data from a Macintosh that is running WeatherCat.  Unless you can have a Mac running in this way, WeatherCatPad will be of no use to you.

Sincerely,

Edouard

Thanks, but my point is that the app is designed for ios platform on an ipad, and the blurb says it can display data from Davis weather stations, so connectivity is implied.

Sorry for your frustration, but the description of WeatherCatPad in the iTunes store states, in part:

"WeatherCatPad is an iOS client of the WeatherCat host weather station software. The WeatherCat host software connects to weather stations to display real-time weather data and gather weather statistics. More information about the WeatherCat host software is available at http://www.trixology.com/weathercat."

To me, this does not imply I can use WeatherCatPad without WeatherCat; in fact, it clearly states the opposite.
