Hi Stu
Is there a way to have WeatherCat ask if you Are sure you want to quit WeatherCat that way if you accidental hit the quit you have a chance to not quit it

Stu:

With apologies to Randall, I would not like to see this feature. When I quit, I want to quit.

Best of both worlds would be to add a Preference item that allows the user to opt in for the double shut down confirmation.

Dear Randall, Blick, and WeatherCat "itchy" <Command>-Q fingers,

Is there a way to have WeatherCat ask if you Are sure you want to quit WeatherCat that way if you accidental hit the quit you have a chance to not quit it

Actually this isn't the first time this has come up.  I had a spell of accidentally doing da' <Command>-Q thing and suggested it years ago.  Perhaps even before da' Cat!  [WCSmall]

At the time, there was also very little interest from the community so Stu hasn't done anything about it.  I think the best policy is to just be careful when dealing with WeatherCat.  Even I run WeatherCat on my general use computer, I seem to have solved the problem by having a dedicated space for WeatherCat.  When I'm in that space, I'm more careful in general.  Also I try to avoid using <Command>-Q as much.  To quit I use the mouse.  It is a precaution to avoid accidentally quitting something I really need to keep running.

Gotta' do what ya' can to keep d'em itchy fingers from doing da wrong thing!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I've inadvertently shut down WeatherCat a few times myself so I just restart. Since no data is actually lost and the program restarts quickly, I don't consider it a big deal. I don't get hung up on the number of hours/days of continuous uptime.

I'm with Randall on this one. Nothing wrong with having a few Are you sure you want to do that ? reminders same as we get when loading a new Beta version  [tup]

Since I changed to Yosemite I seem to shut WeatherCat down accidentally more often, something to do with the flatter icons for shutting screens down I think.

Added as a feature request (as an option)  [tup]

Thanks Stu!

I haven't made that mistake in a long time  [banghead] , but I would prefer to have some way to avoid it if possible.  [tup]

Shut down request could be implemented as a delayed quit.  Select Cmd-Q and it quits in 60 seconds if not canceled. If the quit must be confirmed before it quits, then automatic reboots programed into the computer won't work. A timed delay for quitting WeatherCat seems like a good compromise solution, as an option.

Hi WeatherCat Family
The reason I wanted this confirmation of a quit is I like to see how long I can run the Cat
I have been able to run it as much as 3,000,000 plus good data with no errors
The problem is some times I will have more Cat windows open and instead of closing it I will accidentally quit  the Cat instead of closing a window then I'm screwed
So if it is going to be a big problem for every one just let it go and leave as it is

When are testing new versions Stu ask us  3 or 4 times if we really want to run this test version!

Hello all,

I would be very glad to have such a reminder - every now and then I shut down WeatherCat unexpectedly. Please, give us a reminder!

Cheers,
Reinhard
