Cloud formation
« on: June 11, 2015, 04:55:34 AM »
Thought some of you might like to see this momentary spectre that appeared at just after 1900 hrs local time last night and lasted from my position for around 10 minutes.  Where we are just S.E. of Manchester Airport, we get a lot of high overflying aircraft with the inevitable patterns of contrails.  The upper air flow and temperature do on occasions  result in some weird cloud formations. You can see quite clearly some lateral cloud seeding from some of the contrails. I've also seen vertical seeding where the contrail appears to drop leaving wisps of cirrus type cloud above it.

You can see the falling contrail tube here  http://www.biglow.co.uk/weather/php/sunrise.html

Cheers, Peter.

Dear Peter, Blick, and WeatherCat cloud photography fans,

Yes indeed, thanks for sharing!  [tup]  This is my favorite kind of photography.  That's one of the reasons I really don't like summers in California - not much in the way of clouds to photograph.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
