Stu:

Will you please take a look at this crash log and give me some advice? This was the second crash of the day but I forgot to save the first crash log.

Thanks,
Blick

Both are different Blick - the first trying to update the hourly stats file (.hrs), the second trying to get the webcam image.

As a first step, give your Mac a reboot.

Thanks Stu. 33 hours since reboot and all is calm (except the weather - 14 inches of snow - 35.6 cm - in this storm and still falling).

Hi Blick and WeatherCat drought watchers,

Thanks Stu. 33 hours since reboot and all is calm (except the weather - 14 inches of snow - 35.6 cm - in this storm and still falling).

Glad to hear you are getting some snow!  [snow]

There are a least promising trends thus far on this wet season . . . .

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

This is in reference to my previous questions here:

@ elagache:  Thanks for your easy to follow advice of things to look for.

I looked at the console application.
In November, there are three Weathercat crashes.

None for December, although it has quit on me twice.

I do have the watchdog feature checked, but it does not restart itself.

I discovered I had OSX/Geonei-A  installed on my mac.  Sophos removed it, but then I found out InstallMac, which is the same software was still on my computer.  I used The Safe Mac  http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-genieo/   to remove it.
Now when I open WeatherCat Status
Station Comms:  Excellent  (100.00%)   previously it was 90%
and
Comms Errors:  0     previously it said 16

Maybe this will solve my problems of WeatherCat quitting and not restarting.

Keep your eye on the WeatherCat Status window for comms errors. The Status tool keeps track of such things. It is normal for Station Comms to be 100% when you first start WeatherCat. Watch it over time. On your other thread we never figured out which data logger you have. How do you connect your Davis console to your iMac? For example, is your console plugged into your computer using a USB connection or are you using an ethernet cable?

USB connection.
I had to read through the Davis Link to learn about the other possibilities of connecting  to my weather station.
I will stick with USB.

Might consider ferrite clamps. (Re: WeatherCat Crash)
« Reply #10 on: December 10, 2014, 09:10:00 PM »
Dear Glenwood, Blick, and WeatherCat fans,

If you end up having 100% good connectivity, hey, you can't do better than that.  However, as mentioned in that WeatherCat Wiki section on Davis stations, ferrite clamps are good insurance to make sure that connectivity stays at 100%

Glad you solved your problem!  [tup]
