Weather Underground servers down?
« on: May 21, 2014, 02:13:49 PM »
Anyone else having problems accessing WU here at 1314 GMT?

Planned maintenance maybe?

Dear Felix, Blick, and WeatherCat fans,

I just checked my uploads and I don't see any huge gap, but I'm curious, does anybody know if Weather Underground has a system status page anywhere?  It is a little crazy, we can attach a message when our weather stations are down, but we can't seem to check anywhere if the Weather Underground end of things has a problem.  Is there such a thing and . . . . "I didn't get the memo?"   [biggrin]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I didn't have any upload voids in my logs. Just couldn't access the site before it timed out so I was curious whether it was a local problem or more widespread. An hour or so after I posted the query, I checked again and everything was normal.

Looking at Blicj11's response, the site was back shortly after my post.

I can't find one. The only thing I could find under status is their service to send you an email if they haven't received your upload in 2 hours.

Hope it is on the do-to list. (Re: Does WU have a status page?)

Hi Blick, Felix, and WeatherCat fans,

I couldn't either.  I do hope they come up with something like the CWOP server status page:

https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!forum/cwop-server-status-alerts

CWOP rarely gives me trouble, but if it does there is a place to look.  Weather Underground in unavoidably more error-prone because the service is more complex and demands a higher data upload rate.  It sure would handy to know why WeatherCat is throwing up a bunch of error codes that WC Status Growler will dutifully spam my display with!!  ::)

Oh well, let's hope it is on their to-do list!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
