Does the latest version run smoothly with Mavericks?

Before I finally upgrade to Mavericks I wanted to make sure it plays nice with WC version 1.24 Build 11 (1.2.4). I'm always slow to upgrade OS's because of all the issues I've been so blessed with in the past (not with WC but with unrelated stuff). But now it's time once again to take the plunge. Any comments?

BTW -- Yes, I've already upgraded to the latest WC version.

Keith, I upgraded to Mavericks about two months ago. Everything with the latest version of WeatherCat works great for me, with one minor exception. The Current Conditions Calculator works, but it looks like it doesn't. You can read the bug report here:

I still recommend the upgrade as this is only a minor inconvenience and it does not appear to impact everyone running Mavericks. Only one other use besides myself reported this as a problem for them.

Thanks Blick! I appreciate it. Everything is running so smoothly now, it's hard to let go and dive right back into uncertainty again with an upgrade to Mavericks. Your feedback helps though.

Yes, and still shot photographs.

I understand your hesitancy to upgrade. I was really happy running Snow Leopard; it was stable and I had everything fine tuned. The jump to Mavericks brought a lot of changes. including some really nice improvements. The changes took a bit of getting used to but now I am quite pleased with it. I use a second display and really like the way Mavericks handles that scenario.

It's because I wanted to buy Apple's Motion 5 that I learned I needed to first upgrade to Mavericks. I've read much of the Macworld article you linked to (thank you very much) and I'm going to follow their advice.

I'm currently using an Epson R-3000 printer that is giving me exceptional prints, when outputting from Photoshop, on the first or second take. So I worry that a Mavericks upgrade might somehow disturb that delicate balance. Did you see any changes at all with your photo printer (if applicable)?

Did you see any changes at all with your photo printer (if applicable)?

For me, upgrading to Mavericks did not impact printer output. Depending on the printer, either Apple or the printer manufacturer has the latest driver. Mavericks has been out long enough that it supports most printers now. In your case, Apple has the latest driver for the R-3000.

An update for anyone thinking about upgrading to Mavericks:

After the upgrade WeatherCat and WeatherLink are both running as they should. So YAY (and whew).

I had a good scare, though: at first WeatherLink would not open at all. After I changed my pants I noticed an alert window hidden behind a couple of other windows that I had open. The alert said to download Java 6. Huh? I thought I'd been running Java 6 for a year and a half. But apparently there's been something like 45 updates to Java 6. Whatever. So I downloaded it and WeatherLink opened immediately thereafter.

My advice is to follow Blick's link in his second reply (above), and follow that advice on preparing your computer for the Mavericks upgrade.

It is well worth it, by the way; every bit as fast as they say. And now I can get Motion 5 -- the whole reason I upgraded in the first place
