User definable time for video to stabilise
« on: February 27, 2012, 08:37:19 PM »
Hi Stu,

My old Logitech web cam needs a few more seconds to stabilise before a snap is taken other wise I end up with web cam images that are dark with a very pronounced blue hue to them.

I get around this by always having the video pre-view winnow running. (when I remember)

I have often thought another solution would be to have a user definable setting for WeatherCat to wait before taking a snap with the web cam.

This isn't a major issue, and if it's going to be a hassle, forget it.

Cheers,
Tony

Hi Tony,
Sorry about that, it shouldn't happen - I've raised it as a bug.

What model web-cam do you have?

Thanks,
Stu.

I use and older Logitech QuickCam Fusion

When I do start the video preview window it takes a few seconds for the image to "settle down", I just assumed this was normal and WeatherCat/LWC needed a few more seconds of settling down before taking an image.

Tony, are you still seeing this issue in V0.9.4?

Thanks,
Stu.

Not sure to be honest, I've got into the habit of always having the video preview window open. I'll close and watch it for a day or two.

Cheers,
Tony

Yes, I'm still seeing this issue. Unless the video preview window is left open then WC doesn't allow enough time for the web cam to stabilise and the image is usually too dark to be useful.

Thanks Tony. WeatherCat looks at the image to determine if it's stabilised or not, but it has an upper limit on how long it will wait - how long would you say it takes to stabilise after you've opened the preview window?
