Title: Moving WC 1.0.2 to Current version 1.1 and doing it under a short deadline.

Well it finally happened, my old G5 Quad has be recalled into service in an old way.  I need it very soon to work in an old OS, remember OS 9.1?  I have to reformat the entire system for a large project that will be running under OS 9.1 for a long time.  In order to do this I have to move WC off the system and into a newer Mac Mini (version 2,1).  It has no where near the storage space of the Quad, but it will be dedicated totally to WC operation.  At the moment there will be 4 gig of Ram, 80 Gig Hard drive with another 100 gig external, more if necessary in the future.

Deadline is about two weeks to get the old system cleared out and reformatted.

Quandary, I now have to move the entire 6 year old WC system from the old system to the new system.  The old system was running WC 1.0.2. build 4 with OS X 10.4.9 and the new is running the latest WC with OS X 10.6.8.  And I have to move it fast.

So my question, is how best to move these files, which files do I need to move, historical and all that, and where are they located in the old system.  Then where do I put them in the new system.  Is there an importer from that will bring in the old data from the old system?  I don't need to worry about the video information since that's from EvoCam and I no longer have to keep an archive of those files anymore.  I don't want to loose any of the old data if at all possible.

So, what suggestions have you all got for this rather sudden endeavor.

I just wrote up a draft of the procedure.  However, I would like people to look it over in case I forgot something.  So keep an eye on this thread:

When you see that everybody agrees that the procedure is complete then you can be the first guinea-pig!!
