Hi Jean Fredrik

I'm assuming the usb cable connections are good?

Tried another usb port on the Mac Mini ?

What messages do you have if you open Console, does it list any USB problems? If so what are they ?

rebooted WeatherCat to see if it finds the usb connections again ?

Rebooted the mac mini., to see if that re-connects the USB ?

No data logger IP available to test here on my side, but on the other side I can confirm that my Mac-USB-data logger connection is 100% stable. Just to make sure: Do you use a Mac data logger or is it a PC data logger? If it is a PC data logger, it *may* not work correct on a Mac.

Cheers,
Reinhard

Hi Jean and WeatherCat fans,

Sorry, what I'm about to suggest is only in English, but there is some troubleshooting tips for Davis Weather stations on the WeatherCat Wiki:

http://wiki.trixology.com/index.php/Davis (http://wiki.trixology.com/index.php/Davis)

If you can make sense of the suggestions, it might help you at least rule out common connection problems.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

hi edouard

I will eliminate the problems one by one

-i include a Ferrite core on the console end of the adapter power cable.

-i includes a Ferrite core on the usb cable datalogger .

thanks

Title: Could be a defective datalogger. (Re: lost usb connection)

Hi Jean Frederic and WeatherCat fans,

I will eliminate the problems one by one

It appears to me that you have already done most of the troubleshooting suggestions we have on the Wiki.

Certainly, carefully look over your entire weather station setup for anything that might be damaged or out of place.

Check the cables to make sure they aren't cut or damaged in some other way.

Also, try removing the datalogger and carefully reseating it into position.  Dataloggers have gotten loose on the Vantage Vue.  Never heard of it on the Vantage Pro-2.

If you try all these things and you still have problems, I recommend that you get in touch with Davis Instruments.  You should be able to easily get the same reliability as the rest of us.  If you are having problems, it is because of a bad component somewhere.

Best of luck getting your station to upload reliably!!  [tup]

hi

i think found the problem:

my AC adapter have not a Ferrite core on the console end of the adapter power cable. so i include one ferrite at the end of the adapter power cable and now no problem with the datalogger and lost usb coonection :)

and now i try the weatherllink-ip =>  [tup]

Dear Jean and WeatherCat fans,

Glad you found plausible source of electrical interference and were able to solve the problem by putting a ferrite clamp.  For intermittent errors like this, interference is the most likely cause.

Glad you found our community and are enjoying WeatherCat!  [cat]

Hi Edouard

something very important to have the firmware of the console with the correct update
I use a weather envoy and I did not understand some troubles with both the USB datalogger and the IP (errors coms)
I verified the firmware, it dates from 2008 (no comment please :) ) i update the firmware with the latest available and everything is impeccable  [tup]

Good data elements received from weather station:
42885
Data link timeout errors:
0
Data link invalid data errors:
0
Weather station sensor errors:
0
