Hi all just wanted to let you know I just updated to firmware v3.12 for the VP2+, from 1.90. I used Boot Camp windows version to connect directly to the VP. All things did go well and so far I have not seen any issues with this. FYI I am the type of person that lives on the edge of new software.
LOL - I have been burned in the past.
I will keep this updated if I find any issues.

Thanks Wildwood. I downloaded the updater last week, but haven't done anything with it yet. I have Windows XP in Parallels, but I don't know if my two consoles and Envoy will be recognized, and I don't know squat about setting ports, et al...
Do you have to set up the Consoles again, or do they retain their settings?
NOTE: This update only works on Davis stations made after mid-2006. Prior to that Davis used analog sensors, which will not be recognized by the new firmware.

Don't have to re-setup. but you should only do this when you are booted into Windows via Boot Camp. as the com port is not the same. Make sure you read all the notes for the update BEFORE doing this or you will have a brick.
I use use the Direct PC install
OK Good luck

Hello Wildwood, Steve!
I am very interested in update to 3.14 because of this sentence in the release notes:
2. Eliminates occasional WeatherLink communication issue when console is busy receiving a radio packet.
So I am hoping that my comms errors will go down when installing the latest firmware. Is there a step by step solution on how to? I tried with a windows notebook, but it tells me that it could not find a device connected to it (because I use a Mac USB Data logger). Any further tips what I can do?
Thanks in advance,
Reinhard

well no extra info. as I said I boot into windows via boot camp. the usb should be com 3. then run the updater - it will check the com port. if it finds the station it will do the upgrade.

Thanks a lot, Wildwood - done the update without problems! I own two consoles, one with firmware 1.9 and another with firmware 3.0. Both updated to 3.14! I am very curious if the update helps reduce comms errors.
Thanks again,
Reinhard

Update: The comms errors are completely gone - not a single error since updating to Firmware 3.14! [cheer]

Hi JC and WeatherCat fans,
So I have to buy a copy of windoze and install it using boot camp, just to update my firmware ?
humm, looks like I'll be on ver: 1.9 for a while .......
Ditto!!
Looks like a lot of hassle. Unless it provides some spectacular new feature - sounds to me like the old adage: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" very much applies.

Hi Weathercat Family
If I am reading all this right if I buy a new Davis Vantage Pro 2 to update the firmware you must have a copy of Windows or a windows computer to update the firmware on your Vantage pro?
cheers

Hi Randall,

...if I buy a new Davis Vantage Pro 2...
I think if you buy a *new* Davis there should be the latest firmware on it.

Is there any way to check the firmware version before going down the road to infirmity (Windows)?

Some information for those with David Vantage Vue weather stations:
- Enter the Statistical Diagnostic Screen by pressing (and hold) TEMP, then press HUM.
- This will display the Statistical Diagnostic Screen. The Console firmware version is the third set of numbers on the top, which is displayed in LARGE numbers. For example, 2 14.
- Exit by pressing DONE once.
It seems that the firmware in my Vantage Vue is version 2.14. Alas, I have to go down the road to purgatory and install NT [banghead], or find enlist a friend who trusts the dark side.

Just updated my Vantage Vue. Found the console on COM 8 for some reason. That caused a few head scratches for a while as the auto detect only goes as far as COM 4.
