Title: Campbell Scientific
Post by: embayweather on March 03, 2013, 10:51:21 PM
I may shortly be getting my sticky paws on a Campbell Scientific datalogger to go with the complete set of weather instruments I just bought. The big question is whether the Cat can be adapted to use the data. The data is output from the datalogger into the PC via an RS232 interface, and comes in the form of an ASCII string like this one

ASCII string - 100,1416.8,371.22,-.66767,-745.12,-566.18,-738.44,-1064.9,-794.53,-554.16,-785.85,.66767,-764.48,14,0

Each value represent the output from a sensor. Is this something you may think is possible Stu or just a pipe dream?

Thanks for your consideration

Best wishes

Mike

Can't make any promises Mike, but we can certainly take a look at it.

When you get it, post up some data and any other info you may have (suggest the development forum) and we'll take it from there. If there is any protocol documentation available on the web, that'd be good to have. Need to know at the very least the baud rate of the serial interface and whether it needs anything sent to it to send a packet or whether the data just streams out at regular intervals (and obviously the format of the data in that stream).

Cheers,
Stu.

Thanks very much for considering it. All the data should become clear once I have the device, and I will then post it in the Development forum.

Best wishes
