Title: Hello from Portsmouth, UK
Post by: philyoung on January 23, 2013, 08:55:00 PM
Hello all, just taken delivery of my (budget!) weather station. Once it's up & running it wii be time to download weathercat and start collecting data. First thing is to think about the sensor placements as the short supplied pole won't do t all!

Hello Phil and WeatherCat fans,  [cat]

Welcome to the WeatherCat forum!  (http://www.canebas.org/Weather/LWC_forum/Custom_emoticons/welcome_smiley.gif)

Hello all, just taken delivery of my (budget!) weather station. Once it's up & running it wii be time to download weathercat and start collecting data. First thing is to think about the sensor placements as the short supplied pole won't do t all!

Congratulations!  [tup]  Which weather station have you purchased?  If you have any questions on how to set up your instruments by all means ask.  There is enough folks on this forum that odds are that if you run into a problem, someone else already has and might have a solution.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Edouard, I have a Fine Offset WS 1080, I'm reading about sensor siting but am limited in a small city garden. I need to make a decent thermal shield for the temp sensor.

It was very cheap so I doubt it will be terribly accurate but it should be good for trends. I'm most interested in temperature and rainfall as I try to grow plants that are marginal in our climate.

Hi Phil and welcome, from Yoxford, Suffolk.

Your name brings back good memories of a Doctor I used to work with on submarines years ago, it would be too much of a coincidence that your related by any chance ? (I'm sure he owed me money  [biggrin]).

Hi John, I left the Royal Navy 10 years ago. I served in HM Submarines Resolution (Port), Tireless & Torbay and had a squadron job at SM2. I don't have any medical relatives so maybe it was me?

Hello Phil

It's a small world, Always wondered what had happened to you and Bernie ? after you escaped from Faslane, so you ended up with the sunshine squadron, that's all right for some people  [sweat]

I got a medical discharge in Dec 94 with UC, now getting a lot of the long term complications unfortunately. Will send you a PM

Hi Phil

I'm trying to get to Portsmouth sometime this year to visit a friend and the submarine museum, also getting nagged to attend RNH Haslar reunion, but since I was Stonehouse trained not sure about that.  [lol2]
