Title: Replace old Davis ISS with new

Hello Everyone,

This is probably a simple question, but I want to avoid any potential problems.

I am installing a new ISS. The current one is designated as station 1. Is it as simple as powering down the old ISS (remove battery and disconnect solar panel), then starting the new ISS as station 1? Will the consoles continue to receive data from "station 1" like nothing happened?

When i swapped out mine, in addition to what you state, I changed the DIP switch on the old ISS so that it was not transmitting on 1. You should be good to go.

Thanks, Blick! That helps. When I fired up the new ISS, no data came through. The only thing I can guess is that the old one was maybe still transmitting on capacitor power. Once I changed the ID on the old one, the new one started logging data.

You are correct, the old one transmits until the capacitor dies. Glad you are up and running on the new ISS. Enjoy!

Dear Michael, Blick, and WeatherCat station caregivers,

Everything that Blick has told is on the mark.  There is one more tiny trick that will cause your old ISS to use up the remaining power in the super-capacitor more quickly.  There is a 4th DIP switch on the transmitter circuit board.  It turns on an LED that can be used to troubleshoot your installation.  However, it is known to use a lot more power.  Obviously that's one way to discharge the super-capacitor more quickly.

You should be able to read more about it in your Integrated Sensor Suite Installation Manual.  In mine, that information is about on page 10.
