I've had a hardware problem on the iMac that collects the weathercat data. The main flash drive is completely gone and unrecoverable. I have time machine backups, so I can get most of the data back and I've seen Stu's cookbook for moving the data. However, I don't know how to recover the registration key for weathercat. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!

Dear Rick and WeatherCat troubleshooters,
I've had a hardware problem on the iMac that collects the weathercat data. The main flash drive is completely gone and unrecoverable. I have time machine backups, so I can get most of the data back and I've seen Stu's cookbook for moving the data. However, I don't know how to recover the registration key for weathercat. Can anyone help?
How are you going to put your installation back together? If you restore the replacement hard drive from the time machine backups you will automatically restore all of your WeatherCat state, including the application and registration key. That would be the simplest solution. Even if you are planning to replace your Mac, you can still use your time machine backups to restore you software installation.
If you would rather restore your setup "by hand" so to speak, you can contact WeatherCat technical support, identify yourself, and ask for your registration info. The contact information is on this webpage:

Unfortunately, Stu is being run ragged by his day job so odds are he will be slow to get back you, but hopefully he can resolve this swiftly for you.

Silly me, this worked of course. I was worried to no avail, about moving from an iMac to a mini, but every thing has come back okay except for one thing: weathercat is no longer collecting data. I have an envoy and use the VCP driver from Silicon labs. I tried reinstalling the driver, but that didn't help.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Well,I finally have it working. I reinstalled the VCP driver being careful to delete the old one, restarted weathercat, and it started receiving data. I think this post can be closed. The morel of the story is, if you have a crash where the mac has to be replaced, recover from backups and carefully reinstall any needed drivers. Thanks to elagache for the suggestions.

Another moral is to have all your registration/license info, for any app that needs it, backed up. I use 1Password to store all such important data. Secondarily, many of us have screen captures of every single WC Prefs page, especially the custom Graphs and Gauges we've constructed.
As Confucius said, "You can't have too many backups!" [computer] [banghead] ThU32:-)

Glad to see you are back up and running. I had a hard drive failure a few years ago and after restoring my Carbon Copy Cloner backup to the new drive everything came back online without a problem. I can testify Confucius was right.
