My console for the VP2, which had the IP logger on it gave up today. I do have the weatherlink Live thing working. I normally download my station to the software, but now the console is dead ( only lasted 30 years ) and is going to electronic salvage.
I need to know if anyone has been able to link to the Weatherlink Live online and get data that way or to the weatherlink device? I read somewhere, but not sure what I read.

Dear Weatheraardvark

I don't believe you can get along without some sort of console. That is the device that communicates with your weather instruments. WeatherLink Live uses a new console which you would still need to purchase.
I assume that Davis has discontinued the old VP-2 console but they still seem to be available as spare parts. For example here it is for sale at Scaled Instruments:
https://www.scaledinstruments.com/shop/davis-instruments/parts/vantage-pro2-parts/display-console-parts/davis-6312-wireless-pro2-console/ (https://www.scaledinstruments.com/shop/davis-instruments/parts/vantage-pro2-parts/display-console-parts/davis-6312-wireless-pro2-console/)
Can anyone else offer some commentary on this problem?
Please do let us know how you resolve this.
Cheers, Edouard
P.S. If your console is very old, you might need a new data logger as well since Davis revised them about 10 years ago or so. However, Davis allowed me to exchange a data logger for free. The issue would be the station downtime.

I have everything I need that youmention. I went with the fancy console The cost difference was about 100 so the new one is on order
I did get WC to communicate as I know the IP address of the WL device and it works.
I consider this resolved.

I love it when a WeatherCatter resolves an issue!
