I know I (and others) have had problems sending WC admin emails that didn't seem to have solutions. Since there are several threads regarding this issue (mainly M1 Macs with Monterey?) I'll let you know what finally solved it for me .... and the thanks goes to Alan Rowley.
I downloaded Xcode and admin emails are sending!!!! I have no idea what xcode does or why this corrected the problem (and don't really care lol)
I'm using port 587.
FWIW, I'd still prefer alerts sent by text.
-
Xcode probably installed newer versions of many things like PHP (which Apple may have stopped installing in Monterey?). I think WC uses cURL which is a PHP method for (mail and ftp?).

Dear drewaz and WeatherCat on the go types,
FWIW, I'd still prefer alerts sent by text.
But you can!
It is all described in the posting by Dave13:

I have tried myself and it works perfectly! This is so important that I have created a new sticky topic with the same information to make it easier to find:

Try it! I think you'll like it!
Cheers, Edouard

What a few months of problems that are now fixed! I did a couple of test custom alerts and .....
Email alerts: working!
Text alerts: working!
and one other problem is now resolved thanks for this forum: I'm able to upload to WU again.
I'm amazed at the help people here provide. I am far from a techy person and when I run into a problem I sometimes have difficulty explaining the issue and clearly don't have many problem solving skills.
Thanks for your help and your patience!!!!!
Thanks to all!!!!!

I upgraded to Monterey a couple of weeks ago. WeatherCat stopped sending email alerts. I did have Xcode Command Line tools installed but not the full Xcode package. After reading your email I decided to try downloading the full application. As soon as I did, and installed it, WC once again resumed sending admin emails. Thanks for sharing!

Have any of you who had to download Xcode to get your WC admin emails to start working again upgraded to the newly released Xcode 14.2? I don't want to "fix" something that's not broken, and my admin emails are working fine under version 14.1.
-
I updated Xcode to 14.2 and the admin emails and texts work fine. macOS 12.6.2
-
Thank you! I will upgrade to macOS 12.6.2 and Xcode 14.2 tonight.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I want to provide an update.
After installing X-code 14 WC was able to send admin emails and alerts and this function continued to work after moving up to Ventura. I don't understand why X-code corrected the problem but it did.
Yesterday, for some unknown reason, I updated to X-code 15 and WC started crashing ... over and over. Restarting the computer and running ******tail didn't correct the issue. After uninstalling X-code 15 WC became stable again but again won't send admin emails or alerts.
So .... if anyone is tempted to install X-code 15 you might want to reconsider that decision. 14 worked fine.
Maybe an update to X-code 15 will correct a bug ... I'm hoping but ... I'm wondering if anyone knows another way to get my alert notices back again.
M1 Mac, OS Ventura 13.5.2, WC 3.2
Thanks!

Xcode 14 installs the Command Line Tools (CLT) and it's the CLT that fixes the WeatherCat problem. Unfortunately, Xcode also installs many GB's of code that does nothing for WeatherCat.
Registered (ie paid an annual fee) developers can download the CLT directly from Apple's Developer Software site and skip the Xcode install. There may be other sites from which you can download the CLT.

You are AMAZING! I was able to download and install CLT 14.3.1 (at no charge) from Apple and it fixed my problem!!!!! And as a bonus, I'm free of the bloated X-code.
Thank you! I remain amazed at the knowledge available here and everyone's willingness to help!
I have depended on WC for over 10 years but am not tech savvy ... and you helpful people have been able to solve every issue I've had.
I hope everyone survived summer .... it was brutal here in Phoenix.
