My soil moisture station needed 2 soil sensors, too expensive, so I uninstalled the whole thing. The station is in the shed without battery. Then I pulled up the pvc pipe I had drilled into the ground at 4,12, 24 and 36 inches. I did a real good job when I installed them. The station went without a whimper, the 4 inch pipe no problem. But the others my lord a vertical pull on a 90 degree thsw day isn't something a 74 year old with diabetes, and low hemoglobin, should be doing. Well it is gone. the holes will fill in over time.
I did a good install when I put them in 10 years ago. I won't say it will be easy to remove the weather mast when that time comes. I have a tripod with six 3 foot threaded steel rods holding that sucker down. The mast is 33 feet tall. the top weather thing doesn't work. For now I am leaving it as I have a lower unit working just fine and a backup too.
Hot day , might amaze the neighbors when they see the soil station gone.

Haha. Sometimes this backyard weather hobby to which some of us are addicted makes no sense, but we keep going anyway.

Last winter, the wife said she would like to see the thing go, so all year I have been debating on it. When I had my website it was nice to have, but the cost of one moisture sensor is a tad expensive and it was the 36 inch depth, so getting that plus any other would be costly. think of the coffee I could buy. So I just have the Davis VP2 on the steel mast. It has lasted the longest. I just need someone with a pipe saw to come in and remove the top 20 feet, the guy wires and haul it away, but I can wait on that.
It is getting hot again. it is 80F, the THSW is 91. [sweat2] it is going to be one of those days.

My wife just read me a post she saw in FaceTwit:
Remember to drink lots of fluids and stay inside from 11am until December 2.
