Title: San Francisco losing its famous fog?
Post by: elagache on October 28, 2021, 11:12:44 PM
Dear WeatherCat climate watchers,

I have personally noticed that we have far few days with fog than we did decades ago and it has finally caught the attention of the popular press:

https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/is-san-francisco-losing-its-fog-scientists-fear-the-worst/ (https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/is-san-francisco-losing-its-fog-scientists-fear-the-worst/)

It is a balanced article that admits the complexity of attributing weather phenomena to any simple explanation.  Alas as the article points out, the San Francisco fog isn't simply a tourist attraction.  It is an important source of moisture for the ecology of the region and (as I can personally testify) an important factor in the quality of life for the region.
