Hello - I am very new to Weathercat (1 week) . It looks like hundreds of records are being downloaded to my mac every time I launch WCat - Can someone advise me where to reduce this please? I have looked all through preferences and can't seem to find it! I am using a Vantage Pro with new imac. Thanks, Angiotom

I think you are looking for the "Sampling" settings in WC Prefs->Misc2, bottom of the window.
"Sampling Rate: 1/2/3/4/5/10/15/30 minutes". I use 2 minutes. I also have "Adaptive" checked.
Davis hardware usually checks and send data to the Console every 2(?) seconds, but WC doesn't need that much data to work well. The faster you set the sampling rate, the more disk space you will use. "Sampling" is building a database which you can view with WC->Tools->Data Viewer/Editor. You can fill up the largest screen you can buy! cmu:-)

512 to be exact. I think what it does is download the logger and overwrites the data already accumulated, so you have data plus the new stuff. Do set it up to backup your data , always a good thing to do. This is what mine looks like at the start

My run times are quite short since I did a Security update last Tuesday: Computer Up-Time: 3 days, 20 hrs, 16 mins, Software Up-Time: 3 days, 20 hrs, 13 mins. I've seen one WeatherCatter who has managed to have run times around 90+(?) days!! [cheer] :o

Many thanks - I was just concerned that all these records are taking up too much disk space.
One more question please guys. When I first launch WC - The 'gauges' window launches on screen, I though somewhere I read it should be the Weather Controller - can I change this? Angiotom

Actually, there are at least four other windows opening. They are just hidden. Open the Windows menu and you’ll see the list below the line/divider near the bottom. To close those windows, just select each one. The command-W keys can then close that window. That command will then be able to close that original window now. I keep hoping the dev will allow these window openings to be a setting in the Prefs in some update, but I guess it doesn’t bother anyone else. cmu:-)

Buy yourself an external harddrive. Set the downloads in the app to send data there then your computer drive won't be loaded but will be loaded to your external drive.
