Title: The best laid plans of mice and . . . . . .
Post by: elagache on June 06, 2020, 12:01:38 AM
Dear WeatherCat handy-folks about the house,

We have installed recent model high-efficiency furnace and air conditioner.  These newer machines are known to be a bit fussy so we have opted for the annual maintenance plans for both units.  Spring is time for the air conditioner checkup, but of course the company prefers to start those checkups as early as possible to keep their employees busy.  So I deliberately waited a bit for the weather to warm up.  In order to check out all the systems, the air conditioner has to run for the better part of an hour, so I much prefer not to have this service happen on a cool day.  Yesterday, would have been ideal  The high 97.8˚ F (36.6˚ C.)  Alas, the appointment was today - the high: 64.6˚ F (18.1˚ C).  (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/D'oh.gif)

Therefore, Blair's observation (https://www.google.com/books/edition/Murphy_s_Law/Huc56EBhvY0C?hl=en&gbpv=1&bsq=Blair%27s%20observation:%20the%20best%20laid%20plans%20of%20mice%20and%20men%20are%20usually%20about%20equal) has once more been confirmed: "The best laid plans of mice and men are usually about equal!" (https://www.google.com/books/edition/Murphy_s_Law/Huc56EBhvY0C?hl=en&gbpv=1&bsq=Blair%27s%20observation:%20the%20best%20laid%20plans%20of%20mice%20and%20men%20are%20usually%20about%20equal)  [biggrin]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

WHAT?! A weather expert can't figure out what the forecast will be before scheduling for a 'warm' day?!!!! You are setting a terrible standard for all true "weather forecasters"!!! >:( And don't think you can get away with blaming some Englishman!!! [lol]

Here, in the far western end of the Uintah Mountains, we cool our home by opening the windows. Heating is a bit more complicated, but we have a high efficiency boiler that circulates heated glycol through the floors. We use the Edouard-provided setup for using a WeatherCat synthetic channel to notify us when to open or close the windows. We try hard to close the windows before firing up the boiler.
