Title: 2018 weather-related fatality statistics according to the NWS
Post by: elagache on May 28, 2019, 10:54:57 PM
Dear WeatherCat statistics junkies,

The National Weather Service has compiled a graph of the weather-related fatalities for 2018 and added a 10 and 30 year average for comparison.  The graphic is located here:

https://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/hazstats.shtml (https://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/hazstats.shtml)

Of course since this is a image located on the world wide web, I can simply include the image directly in this posting:

Consistent with long-term trends, heat is the number 1 weather-related killer followed by flooding as #2.  It is interesting that deaths from tornadoes and hurricanes were well below normal averages last year.  Alas, this year may make up for that.

FYI . . . . .

Cheers, Edouard
