Title: New Mac automation tool: Hammerspoon
Post by: elagache on July 19, 2017, 10:58:29 PM
Dear WeatherCat "tinkerers,"

There is a new automation tool for the Mac called (oddly enough) : Hammerspoon.  Here is the website:

http://www.hammerspoon.org/ (http://www.hammerspoon.org/)

It is a free product although it doesn't appear to be open-source.  It is based on yet another scripting language called Lua (https://www.lua.org/).  Here is the Wikipedia article about it:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lua_(programming_language) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lua_(programming_language))

This language is a Brazilian creation.

Even if learning - yet another - scripting language is a real downer, Hammerspoon as a lot capability and much of it is unique.  Here is the API page:

http://www.hammerspoon.org/docs/ (http://www.hammerspoon.org/docs/)

Unfortunately, the one capability I've been seeking for many years isn't included: moving application windows from one space to another in Mission Control.  Still, somebody might find a use that only Hammerspoon can meet.  So at the very least, it is worth a bookmark for some potential future use.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
