Title: National Hurricane Center's 2017 outlook
Post by: elagache on May 26, 2017, 12:45:17 AM
Dear WeatherCat extreme weather observers (and/or) seeker to avoid same,

The National Hurricane Center has put out their 2017 outlook:

http://www.noaa.gov/media-release/above-normal-atlantic-hurricane-season-is-most-likely-year (http://www.noaa.gov/media-release/above-normal-atlantic-hurricane-season-is-most-likely-year)

The headlines read that an above normal hurricane season is expected.  So everyone effected by that - cringe.  [banghead]

At the moment there isn't any outlook for other parts of the world - stay tuned!

Cheers, Edouard

Serious business for those on our coasts. Hope you all make through without damage to home and body. You are all welcome to head to western TN for a few days. We have two bedrooms upstairs! Please call ahead for availability.

Possibly the one good reason to move to the left coast? lol(1) Maybe I'll simply stay here, quite far from the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. I can always visit the local gravel pit if I want to play in dome sand. [rolleyes2]
Title: Eastern Pacific outlook (Re: National Hurricane Center's 2017 outlook)

Dear WeatherCat extreme weather observers (or evaders,)

The hurricane outlook for the Eastern Pacific is finally out:

http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Epac_hurr/Epac_hurricane.html (http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/Epac_hurr/Epac_hurricane.html)

The punch line is basically this:

Quote
NOAA's 2017 eastern Pacific Hurricane Season outlook predicts a near-normal or above-normal season, with a 40% chance of an above-normal season, a 40% chance of a near-normal season, and a 20% chance of a below-normal season.

Although the Eastern Pacific isn't nearly has threatening to life and property as the Atlantic hurricanes, it is a source of water in the form of monsoons.  So the forecast could be good news for the Southwestern deserts.

Cheers, Edouard
