Title: Take an interesting look at Matthew in a Windity page
Post by: xairbusdriver on October 09, 2016, 02:34:21 PM
Zoom out a bit. Below 10,000' it expands to a several hundred mile long "through". Almost a humongous "eye" (sorry for the seldom used meteorological technical term). Unfortunately, the high altitude winds don't look like they will be of much help to push this storm eastwardly... :(

Speaking of this storm and its aftermath, this might be a good time to search Charity Navigator (http://www.charitynavigator.org) to verify/select an efficient group to send some funds. ThU32:-)

Dear X-Air and WeatherCat hypertext creators,

Zoom out a bit. Below 10,000' it expands to a several hundred mile long "through". Almost a humongous "eye" (sorry for the seldom used meteorological technical term). Unfortunately, the high altitude winds don't look like they will be of much help to push this storm eastwardly... :(

Would a view like this be roughly what you had in mind?

Uhhmnnn, yes. Of course, it will continue to change and hopefully completely disintegrate soon.

BTW, since you know a couple of Admins, personally, would you mind editing the title? The "aa" is supposed to be "an". My keeybored maid a erer! [computer] [banghead] [blush]
Title: Done - don't have a modify button? (Re: Matthew in a Windity page)

Dear X-Air and WeatherCat FYI types, .

Done!

However, it only edits the original post - not any replies.

By the way you should be able to make corrections on stuff like that yourself.  Just click on the modify button at the top of the posting.  You always have permission to edit your own posts.

Cheers, Edouard

Thanks for your editing prowes!

I know I can edit my own posts, but other forums I frequent don't allow 'regular' folks the power to edit the title of a thread. I never even tried that here. [banghead] [blush]
Title: Depends on the forum software (Was: Matthew in a Windity page)

Dear X-Air and visitors to the forum ecosphere,

I know I can edit my own posts, but other forums I frequent don't allow 'regular' folks the power to edit the title of a thread.

I think the issue is mostly with the type of software used to host the forum.  SMF does allow you to edit the title of the thread.  It also displays the title as modified.  The vbulletin software isn't so nice.  You cannot edit the title of your thread after creating it.  So definitely don't make mistakes in the title on forums using that software.  Also, vbulletin only displays the initial title when a reply is made to thread.  So that doesn't help viewers know if the subject has evolved from the initial post.

I'm on forums that use both software, but I prefer the simplicity of SMF.  The only thing I miss that you can do on vbulletin is embed a video.  I hope it is in the pipeline since there is a BB code to do that:
