Title: California yardwork - January 2016 . . . .
Post by: elagache on January 10, 2016, 11:02:09 PM
Dear WeatherCat homeowners,

There are those who consider California a kind of paradise.  The trouble is that this "paradise" has become plenty crowded with "critters" that also find it a paradise of sorts but definitely don't contribute to human happiness at all.  Case and point:

In this particular case, there is an old set of gopher tunnels that periodically get "visitations" from gophers who are in my neighbor's yards and in this case aren't finding enough "viddles" to satisfy their appetite.  As you can see in this photo, a previous gopher had come through "casing da' joint" and was sent to "gopher heaven" by some poisoned bait.  Clearly some of that bait remained and was sufficient to attract "another customer."  So I have obligingly put out "one last meal" for the newcomer.  In the past, this game of "cat and mouse" can go on for months and it seems I've killed scores of gophers.  Since most of the people around here are utterly inept about caring for a yard, gophers can survive so long as people water their lawns.  Those gophers just better stay out of my yard!  >:(

So if you are wondering why I can't find time to work on my AppleScripts . . . . well here is just one of the reasons!

grumble, grumble, grumble . . . . . Edouard

Get the gophers to work on the Buick while you are modernizing those Apple Scripts.

Dear Blick and WeatherCat handymen . . .

Get the gophers to work on the Buick while you are modernizing those Apple Scripts.

[wink] . . . Perish da' thought!  My trusty wagon doesn't have any leaks for the first time in 3 years.  I don't think gophers would be good at maintaining that! . . .  [lol2]

On da' trusty wagon front, I got her out this morning for a bit of exercise and further self-tuning.  Still a very happy "assertive" wagon!  :)

Unfortunately this afternoon some gopher left a fresh "calling card" mound.  So I provided another meal.  This could be a bad year for gophers.  They supposedly produce a lot of young in wet years.

We'll see . . . . . Edouard
