Title: Weather Envoy Additional Sensor
Post by: wurzelmac on September 12, 2015, 11:09:46 AM
Hello all,

this thread is the sequel to this thread (http://athena.trixology.com/index.php?topic=1825.0) ... :-[

Ok, thanks again Edouard for taking time. In the meantime I stumbled over something interesting in the Weather Envoy User Manual (http://www.davisnet.com/product_documents/weather/manuals/07395-281_IM_06316.pdf) on page 20:

So I think the Windows version has an extra sector within Station Config to turn on additional Temp sensors. Interesting that the guys from Davis removed the picture in this manual (http://www.davisnet.com/product_documents/weather/manuals/envoy_manual.pdf). Anybody out here to test this on a Windows machine:

Now I think I can take this one to an end:

After *borrowing* a WeatherLink installation for Windows I got the additional Channel running on WeatherCat. This is how I did it:

? Installing WeatherLink on a Windows machine (old Acer Laptop)
? Connecting the USB data logger into the Acer
? Running WeatherLink
? Following the Walkthrough of WeatherLink, and
? within Station Configuration ticked 2nd Temp
? Cleaning WeatherLink on a Windows machine (because it was only *borrowed*)

This damned Station Configuration (do you notice the *small* differences???) is not available within the MacOS software of WeatherLink.  >:(

MacOS:

Windows:

Now, what shall I say? I am really disappointed about Davis...  :o

Cheers,
Reinhard

Nice bit of manoeuvring to get configured Reinhard. Apple has always been the poor step-child at Davis. Glad you have sorted it.

Dear Reinhard, Blick, and WeatherCat fans,

Now, what shall I say? I am really disappointed about Davis...  :o

I definitely agree.  If you can spare the time, why don't you cut and paste this posting and turn it into a quick email that could be sent to Davis's technical support email address.  That won't cost you much time and it really should be reported as a bug.

Here is the brief reply from Davis:

Hello,

It is not a feature in the MAC software.

So I think it is up to you, Stu, to make this into a feature in the WeatherCat software.  :D

Wow, that's just plain wrong.  It cannot be that much work and besides most of WeatherLink is written in Java so it should work on Mac, PC, and Linux.  It is hardly a surprise but most definitely a disappointment . . . .  :(
