Am trying to pin down the definition of the rainstorm tag RS$
Is it the rain total over the last 24 hours?
Or perhaps some other definition?
Thanks,
RR

Hi RR,
If I recall correctly; a rainstorm is defined as a period of rainfall with a total percipitation of at least 0.4mm, and which ends after no rain has been recorded for 24hrs.

Dear RR, Jos, and WeatherCat web spinners,
Am trying to pin down the definition of the rainstorm tag RS$
Check page 195 of the current WeatherCat manual. This is a value that is defined only for Davis stations, so the definition comes from Davis. Jos has it more or less correct, but you could double-check your Davis console manual for the exact details.
Cheers, Edouard

I looked it up and Davis defines this as (page 22 of the Vantage Pro2 manual): Rain Storm displays the rain total of the last rain event. It takes two tips of the rain bucket to begin a storm event and 24 hours without rain to end a storm event.

Thanks for the input. That is useful
