Post by: WCDev on September 02, 2014, 11:19:05 PM
Not sure if this one has come up before, but whilst having a little surf around came across the following:

Looks like a useful book! Anyone read it?

I haven't read it, but isn't that gizmo on the front cover a version of the Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder that Steve built in his backyard? See http://athena.trixology.com/index.php?topic=361.msg3255#msg3255

Here is a link to the US version of Amazon for the book: http://www.amazon.com/Weather-Observers-Handbook-Stephen-Burt/dp/1107662281/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409697602&sr=8-1&keywords=weather+observers+handbook

Howdy Stu, Blick, and WeatherCat budding meteorologists . . . .

There are only 5 reviews for the book on Amazon, but they are all absolutely glowing.  Given that praise, I put it on my Amazon wishlist!!  :)

I received that book as a Christmas present two years ago, but haven't read it yet.  :-[ I have flipped through it, and it appears t have an amazing amount of information presented in terms even I understand. I know at the time, several folks over on the WXForums had purchased it, and all reviews were very positive.

And you are correct John. That is the C-S sun recorder like mine on the cover.
