Title: Fires Northern California
Post by: pbeaudet on August 04, 2014, 09:51:01 PM
After the 100 plus degree days in our worst drought ever, lightening  [thunder] has sparked numerous fires. The Eiler fire is burning around Burney mtn and can be seen in my weathercam. See: http://pbeaudet.us

Oh NO! That looks pretty close. I hope it's blowing away from Burney, but it looks like it's blowing from left to right in the image.

Hoping some of the monsoonal rains reach California and help put out the fires and ease the drought.  It seems like the weather is changing in the eastern parts of the SW US for green pastures (instead of blowing sand).  SE Colorado finally has been receiving significant rains after 5 years of drought.

I just took a look at your site. It looks nice. What kind of webcam are you using? Is it outside or is it looking through a window?

One more thing, I was looking at your weather site on my iPhone and it really translates well. Are you using Wordpress or a template or just coding from scratch?

Hi Phillip, Herb, Jeff, Blick, and WeatherCat fans,

We had been lucky that we haven't had more lightning sparked fires considering the amount of monsoonal activity streaming across the whole of California.  Alas, our luck has run out . . . .  :(

Hoping some of the monsoonal rains reach California and help put out the fires and ease the drought.

Alas, all this monsoonal activity has brought basically zip in terms of rainfall.  This morning I got the first measurable rain since May.  Alas, exactly the same amount: 0.01" . . . . (http://www.canebas.org/Weather/LWC_forum/Custom_emoticons/desert-smiley.gif)

Oh well, . . . .

Ouch!  And I have been gripping about my biggest rain being .31" since it snowed in May.

I am using a Sony TRV 20 Camcorder connected via Firewire and outdoors in a custom wood cabinet. I used a UV filter as the window to shoot through.

It was a template, Atkins I think, and modified with PageSpinner.
