Title: Editing Wind Speed
Post by: geoffdickinson on July 02, 2014, 09:13:03 AM
I know this has been covered before a year or two back but I have a one off wind gust of 156Km/hr recorded.

I have tried using the Data Editor but my computer wont let me do it.

I have tried using a Text Editor which has worked fine and have deleted the .hrs file as instructed and restarted Weather Cat but the .hrs file hasn't reconstructed.

The result is that the Statistics page is still showing the "record" wind gust

Suggestions anyone?

Two possibilities I can think of off the top of my head..

1. The data file wasn't saved after you edited it, so the .hrs file rebuilt with the old data.
or
2. You have more than one entry with the same high value in the data file.

Also make sure WeatherCat isn't running when editing the data file in a text editor.

Thanks for that. I realised the file I edited was the backup version not the current version. That's the good news.

The bad news is that try as I might I cant find the active WeatherCatData file anywhere in my Library or anywhere on my Mac. I have tried searching using wildcard criteria without success but I know it must be somewhere as I have data which is bang up to date.

So still no nearer a solution.

Title: Need to reveal Library folder. (Re: Editing Wind Speed)

Hi Geoff, Randall, and WeatherCat fans,

Randall is 100% correct, but just to be sure - have you revealed your Library folder so that you can access it?  If not, you can do some quick searches for revealing OS X library using your favorite search engine.  You cannot edit the WeatherCat data files without revealing your Library folder.

Thanks for that. Finally fixed it once I had found and accessed the Library!
