Dear WeatherCat fans,
I have a question more for WeatherCat users than Stu exactly. Every forecast email has this preface:
This email is sent just after 7 A.M., 4 P.M. and midnight daily. You can turn this feature off via the 'Send Forecast Email' option in WeatherCat's Email preferences.
In most cases, this is much more text than the forecast itself. Somehow it feels like the wrong way to get folks to turn the forecast email off if they don't want it. Do folks prefer to have this text appear in the forecast emails or not?
Cheers, Edouard [cheers1]

Makes no difference to me. I don't have the forecast emailed to me.

I'm with Steve. I used to but now don't have the forecast sent to me, so makes no difference to me.

Hi JC, Steve, and WeatherCat fans,
Thanks for your thoughts. Admittedly, these emails probably aren't the "cup of tea" for weather infoholics like the more active folks on this forum. I try to leave them on just in case something screwy happens in WeatherCat and those emails get corrupted. Because of that I do read the text to look for surprises . . . . I've read: "This email is sent just after 7 A.M., 4 P.M. and midnight daily. You can turn this feature off via the 'Send Forecast Email' option in WeatherCat's Email preferences." a few too many times already!!
It just occurred to me that if someone actually wanted to get these forecasts as emails, those instructions would become distracting.
Cheers, Edouard [cheers1]

What I might do here is include that text for the first few sends, then omit it after that. Food for thought....
Thanks Edouard!
Stu.

Howdy Stu and WeatherCat fans,
Sorry if this seems like a fuss. My thinking was actually quite minimalist on this one.

Are the forecast and report emails enabled by default? Perhaps they shouldn't be. However, beyond that, I would have hoped that WeatherCat users would have been sophisticated enough if they got an email they weren't expecting . . . . that they would look it up in the user manual . . . . silly me? [lol] or at least ask about it here on the forum.
I suppose you could create this sort of initial run instructions, but wouldn't that be rather complicated?
Call me old-fashioned, but it just doesn't feel like the right place for this sort of instructions. On the other hand, Stu you are the one who gets the complaints. If you have gotten plenty of gripes because instructions like this weren't in the emails . . . . . you'd better stick to the path of least resistance!!
Cheers, Edouard [cheers1]

Hi Edouard
The emails are enabled on by default on first install, but they can be 'switched off' via WCat/Preferences/email, where are are options for the email reports/new records/ forecasts and admin emails.
