Dear WeatherCat climate watchers,
Well, I'm sorry to report it is official - summertime is over. Yup, I had to carry out that traditional autumn chore of mowing the lawn one last time, changing the oil in the mower, emptying the gas, and cleaning it up for winter storage.
Just one of those suburban things you've gotta do . . . . . except, usually around these parts you do it - end of October, mid November, . . . . early December of bad years. This is absolutely the first time I've been able to mow the lawn on December 28th!
So just in case you weren't entirely sure that the weather is just a bit screwy - now you know!! :o
Cheers, Edouard [cheers1]

Chiming in on weird weather reports, North Texas had an unusually cold autumn, including a crippling extended ice storm and many consecutive days without rising above the freezing mark. Very strange for this area. Winter has been an unwelcome continuation of that (stuff). I'm always hungry. Now I know how Buffalo wings got so popular.

Hi Randall, Keith, and WeatherCat fans,
Definitely some weird stuff going on. Yesterday night we had a red-flag warning for extremely threatening: forest fire conditions!?!?! Sure hope the weather starts getting back to sometime like normal - this is really crazy!! :o
Cheers, Edouard

The weather in the Netherlands has been very mild this 'winter' - at least so far, and for the week to come. Except for some minor early morning frost, we have had no cold or snowy weather whatsoever.
Being close to the Atlantic with it's Gulf Stream winters are obviously relatively mild here, but having no snow and frost at all is quite unusual. The Dutch love their skating so hopefully we can see a change early 2014.
Happy New Year everyone! [cheers1]

What an interesting thread to get reports from far and wide tracking the variety of global weather weirdness. I hope others will chime in so we can get an even better picture of the big picture.

Here in Northern Utah, we had more snow in December than we have had for years. And it's been bone-chilling cold. Colder than most of the reporting stations in Antarctica.
