Server move 30th/31st December
« on: December 29, 2019, 08:17:56 PM »
Hello folks,
Starting tomorrow these forums and web pages will be moving to a new server - during this time the web-site and forums will be in maintenance mode or off-line.

The move may take a day or two to complete due to DNS server changes and propagation delays/caching.

Apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

And we're back! Thank you for your patience.

Some forum changes:
1. SMF updated to the latest (2.0.17)
2. Attachments: Can now be up to 20MB per post (up from 2MB) with up to 10 attachments per post (no limit per individual attachment (outside of the 20MB total)).

If you spot anything obviously wrong, please post in this thread so I can take a look.

Thanks & Happy New Year,
Stu.

Well done! I like the cat logo too :)

One thing I noticed in Chrome, the site is now showing as "Not secure", no idea why though, the cert is OK (and Chrome thinks it is too) and all the resources are using https: ?

Thanks folks.

Mark the issue you are seeing is probably caused by external images in the page (banners for example).

Cheers,
Stu.

Thanks, Stu, and good to hear from you. It's been a while!

I noticed a change with the new server software that may have significant effect on our particular forum. While posting in the 2019 weather observation thread, I did a copy/paste from my web page statistics, which included the Mac degree symbol. Any text after the symbol, despite being shown in the edit window, disappears when actually posted. Worked fine if I removed them. I tried to manually append the degree symbol instead of copy/paste with the same results.

Thanks for the continued support!

A search for temperatures in posts seems to confirm the missing 'degree' symbol. There is either an extra space or a "?" instead. Hopefully a default setting in the SMF software that Stu might be able to change. Maybe even Edouard. IDUNO! [blush] I do know that most forum software is very particular about what characters are allowed in posts, but those are usually characters related to programming languages.
