Hi NoWait and WeatherCat fans,
Is it possible to use the current conditions or some sort of weather information from WeatherCat as my screensaver on my mac?
That's kind of a neat idea. In effect have your computer be a weather station console when it is not in use. Unfortunately, can't think of a "sneaky" way to do this without some programming. Still, this might be another interesting "plug-in" project.
In the meantime, if you would like some sort of weather-related display on your screen while idle, you might enjoy running
Xeric Design's EarthDesk. It puts up a real-time view of the earth's surface including the regions lit by the sun and moon. Of main interest to us weather-buffs is that it includes real-time satellite image data. So you can watch the world's weather go by.
Not the same as having your own weather station as a screensaver, but it might "cure your itch" while you waiting for that!
Cheers, Edouard
P.S. Actually, you can have a poor-mans version of this simply by having WeatherCat export the image of the gauges when it creates custom web pages and then use that picture as your screen-saver. However, it wouldn't be real-time.
