Of course I have noticed at least this part of the country, when someone sells out, in the long run of things,  sometimes things tend to go down the toilet. Weather Underground, Weather Matrix, Two local stores,  etc...

I sincerely hope I am very wrong and they come out with a color console retro with the VP2 Plus series.   I'll hold my breath until I turn blue.. If you find me on the floor, ignore it, I am probably sleeping.    [freeze]
Thanks for the report and the photos, Edouard. The Biquette story really intrigues me.

Are those tires the Cadillac Specialty Wall or something else?

Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a good fit. I liked the parent company's statement that, "value is created through profitably growing a business, not financial engineering."
Maybe the new owner will take seriously those improvements, features and modifications we have been asking for over the years.

I'm sure the deer is saying something like:
This sure is a sloppy human! cmu:-) But I'll happily glean the dropped, nutritious seeds! Sure beats searching for them in the scattered wild!!
Now, I hope he remembered to re-fill that 'bird' bath thing!
BTW, send him our thanks for doing away with most of the predators (two and four legged) in these paved habitats!
Only thing I'm sure of is it's good news for the "private family". Too often these deals are less good for the company, employees, products & customers. Let's hope this will be one of the exceptions.
Dear WeatherCat observers of the seasons turning,

Yes the equinox is just a few days away, but in California the conditions remain hot, dry, and hostile to life.  Just how hostile?

This is no Photoshop fake, yes that is a deer literally licking up bird seed from off of our driveway.  There are plenty of reasons for this situation, but it still staggers the imagination that creatures could be forced to these extremes.

Such are da' conditions that prevail in California these days, . . . . . .

Oh well, . . . . . Edouard
Dear WeatherCat Davis fans,

Totally by accident I came across this small posting on the Davis blog - Union Park Announces Acquisition Of Davis Instruments:

Davis is no longer a private family-owned company but is now owned by: Union Park Capital, a Boston based private equity firm.  The posting is dated July 31, 2019.

Davis has already joined the Advanced Environmental Monitoring family of Union Park.  You can find more information on this group on their website:

This news is certainly a shock to me and I suspect will be the same for a good number of WeatherCat users of Davis stations,

Oh well, . . . . . . Edouard  ???
General Weather Discussion / Preview of Autumn 2019

Dear WeatherCat observers of the seasons turning,

The forecast had been reasonably steady around here: very hot weather through Saturday cooling to a chance of showers today.  The hot weather on Saturday is evident on the historical data from WeatherCat:

The high of 95.1˚ F (35.1˚ C)  with a low relative humidity of 17% made it basically desert conditions.  Nonetheless the weather cooled a lot on Sunday and as forecast, a cold front came though last night and this morning.  Here is WeatherCat's data on the current conditions:

The temperatures are around 25˚ F cooler and the humidity is back up to a comfortable level.  The rain was better than expected.  We picked 0.15" (3.81mm) of rain which was 50% more than forecast.  The rainfall rate was surprisingly high with a peek rate of 0.54" per hour (13.7mm per hour.)  That was enough to wash a lot of dust that had accumulated over the hot dry summer.  I took a few pictures of the unusual scene.  Here is the wet pavement against a hill of dried out grasses:

Here is a puddle in the foreground and the partly cloudy sky in the background:

Finally, here are some withered Naked Lady flowers next to a drain pipe:

I know it is officially still summer.  Autumn won't occur this year until next Monday the 23rd.  You can look up the exact time when it happens at your home down on this website:

Still, for California this is much more of a preview of fall than summertime weather.  So here is a one week preview of what I hope will be fortuitous winter season for all of us!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
