What has been the climate for May according to WeatherCat?

elagache:
Dear Steve, Blick, and WeatherCat climate watchers,

Thanks for posting.  Interesting that both your numbers are close enough to your station averages to be probably within 1 standard deviation.  So everything is normal except for the boon of rainfall in Utah from hurricane Rosa.  Tropical Depression Twenty-five-E has formed off Mexico.  However, it doesn't look like it will provide much moisture for the parched Western United States.

JosBaz:
Like all months since April, October was dryer and warmer than normal in the Netherlands (despite a wet 30 October with 23.6mm). The 'precipitation-shortage' for 2018 has increased to roughly 250mm (10 inches), even 300mm in some parts of the country.
It has also been very dry in Germany. Months of drought have left water levels on the Rhine river at a record low, exposing World War II bombs and forcing ship operators to halt services to prevent vessels from running aground.

On the other side of the scale, Italy has been hit by extremely bad weather. Venice flooded (more than usual ;)) and huge amounts of rain - 500mm within a few days -- and snow fell in the Alps (100cm on the Stelvio pass, 2757m altitude).

Weather is never dull.

Thanks for sharing.  I just don't have the time to keep up with these sorts of weather phenomena so I am quite surprised by the European extremes.  I suppose we can chalk it up to that new bit of Weather slang: "Global Weirding."

Grin and bear it . . . . .

Dear WeatherCat climate watchers,

Another month has passed so we can all ask WeatherCat how the climate has compared to previous years.  Here is what is reported from Canebas weather station:

All this makes perfect sense.  The first half of the months was dry and sunny when there wasn't smoke.  The second half was wet and stormy.

So what does your WeatherCat installation report?

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
