Dear Phillip, Blick, and WeatherCat endurance runners,

What a champ!

Wow!  We haven't seen WeatherCat manage such an uptime in years!  I assume you Mac Mini is dedicated to WeatherCat?

Sad to say it wasn't that long ago that I found myself forgetting to reboot my Mac at the start of the month because everything was working fine.  Now I struggle to get through a whole week!  :(

As posted elsewhere, Sad times for the Macintosh faithful.

Congrats on your success!!  ThU5:-)

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Very nice - I think that's probably the longest run I've ever seen. The one running http://live.trixology.com/custom/ is currently at 24 days - normally it goes until there's a security update or some other reason to restart the machine, but I'm pretty sure it's never made it to 90 days, so well done!

It is a dedicated Mac Mini running the Cat and EvoCam. Every five days I quit EvoCam and restart it. For some reason EvoCam ends up using an inordinate amount of memory after about eight days. It will finally produce the dreaded "Out of Memory" alert...... [banghead] It is the current version. I have tried contacting the developers but have had no response.

I have tried contacting the developers but have had no response.

Unfortunately, Evocam went dark and is no more.

Thank you, Blick. That is not what I was expecting.  I am using a Sharx networked camera. I'll start looking into alternatives....

Here are some possibilities:

Security Spy, Apowersoft Mac Screen Recorder, Camtasia, Capture One Pro 10, CaptureSync, ScreenFlow, Wirecast

You could also ask Sharx for a recommendation for Macs.

I have a year-old Sharx 3905 that just connects via Ethernet and WC handles the uploading and video construction. I never got Evocam's uploading working and I like the way WC adds the wx info, anyway. ThU5:-)

If you have EvoCam 3.7.6 seems to do better the version 4.0 for me may want to go back to it if you need a copy let me know.

cheers

I am using the same Sharx as you. I have it set up as wireless to my home lan. How do you connect? What are your settings in WC?

POE, with a 25' cable to a 48v (I think) 'booster' with 100' of cable to the camera.

My webcam settings
The Ethernet cable runs to the Airport Extreme and to my iMac. The mini collects the video/images via the LAN connection to the iMac. Hope that helps.

I am running EC v5 beta 3 but I have v4 to try tomorrow.....Thanks for the suggestions to all.

I am also running EvoCam 3.7.6, and have a .DMG I can send if needed. I bought version 4 before it was released, so got to use 3.7.5 while waiting. I tried v4, and immediately went back to v3.7.5 because a lot of things I was using were removed. I never tried later versions of 4. I have a .DMG of v4.0.4 and v5.0, but I don't think my v4 license works with v4 (I haven't tried.)

Version 3.7.6 still works fine with Mac OS Sierra. I have four Sharx 3905 cameras running over wifi, and a Logitech 9000 USB running 24/7 on my 5 year old iMac. There has been a problem with it quitting twice a day for a number of years. I created a quick AppleScript to check to see if it is running every ten seconds, and if not, launch it again. Other than that, it has ben great.

With you needing to quit yours every so often, you can do something similar. Create an AppleScript to have it quit and relaunch just after midnight each day, or something similar.
