Some autumn color for Thanksgiving
« on: November 26, 2015, 10:27:22 PM »
Dear WeatherCat faithful,

For those us of in da' USofA, Happy Thankgiving!

Whether or not you'll be dining on turkey this evening, you'all might enjoy a bit of autumn color that I snapped this morning.  Autumn is very late to arrive in California, so perhaps this will bring memories of sights that have disappeared many weeks ago.  Here is a line of trees in front of a local grade school:

Here is a I believe ginkgo tree in beautiful yellow leaves:

Finally here is a tree in red "plumage" as only can happen in California:

The palm tree on the left does look rather out of place!

Hope you'all enjoy them!

Cheers, Edouard

Great colour. Thanks for sharing. I am looking out my window at 7 inches of snow on the ground and the temperature hasn't been above freezing for a couple of days. Your photos are a warm reminder of a different season.

Nice shots! We had some fall color here in N. Texas, but better in East Texas from what I saw yesterday.

Cheers,

Alan

When my northern friends are beginning to see white from snowfall, I begin to see white from camellia blossoms. Having a pretty mild autumn here in the southeast USA.

WHOA! I nearly fell out of my chair, Les! Until I realized it was the picture that was sideways, instead of me!

Dear Michael, X-Air, and WeatherCat climate watchers, . .

When my northern friends are beginning to see white from snowfall, I begin to see white from camellia blossoms. Having a pretty mild autumn here in the southeast USA.

Thanks for the photo!  It does seem like Winter is slow to develop at least in some parts of the country.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Sorry the photo is topsy-turvy. Tried to fix that, but couldn't figure a work around. Picture opens just fine in photos, iPhone, etc. Odd. Maybe there as been too much Guinness passed around.  [cheers1]

I've uploaded your image corrected for the Earth's center of gravity to my Dropbox space. I've also sent you a PM with a link. Last time I tried this, the recipient needed a password! [banghead] I did not check the "Change permissions..." settings at DB, so it should work. (I hate seeing those two words together!!! [rolleyes2] )

Re-anchored camellia photo. Hmm, how'd you do that? Thanks. (note, close observation will also reveal that I took this photo through the screen on the porch. Makes for a less than optimum photo. At least it is upright now and viewers don't need to fall out of their chair to see it.

I took some bricks from the top (they were just off-screen) and put them on the bottom (again, just off-screen). That made the bottom heavy enough to turn it 90 degrees. I could digitally swap the window screens for storm windows, if you'd like. I'll need the dimensions of each window (to the nearest quarter inch) and the color of the trim. However, there is a $5 charge for each window up to the first 10, only $3.75 for the next 10. Cash only. [rolleyes2]

Pretty clever!  Of course, I could just go outside and snap the picture instead laying around.  [bed]
