Zapping your NVRAM

Edouard has been zapping something lately so I thought I would post this short article on how and when to zap.

Dear Blick and WeatherCat fans of "shocking moments" . . . . .  [thunder]

Edouard has been zapping something lately so I thought I would post this short article on how and when to zap.

Thanks for the article, but oddly enough, it isn't as complete by the posting on the Apple support forum that I cited earlier:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6623697

In that thread there are two points oddly left out of the MacWorld article.  The procedure recommends fixing your hard drive and file system permissions before attempting to zap the NVRAM.  The author didn't explain why, but did state that if you don't, the zap procedure will fail to have the desired effect.

The other mistake is that some MacBooks cannot use the Command-Option-P-R sequence to zap NVRAM.  My MacBook Pro (Early 2011) supposedly is among those that use another procedure.  However, I never did get that second chime to confirm that the NVRAM was zapped.  That's why I would like to go through the procedure again just in case.  However, to follow the complete "recipe" takes like 2 hours.  Since the storm is supposed to keep up bottle up most of the weekend, I'm hoping to make another attempt.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
