Okay, I made another pass over all this and we can take this question one step further. Here is a link to a test AppleScript using this Satimage osax system as a primary way to localize strings and uses the UNIX command as a backup. You can download it here:

Run button you should get the following string at the bottom of your AppleScript Editor:
This script has a French translation built-in so those of you using your computer in French should get the resulting string in my "college try" French translation.
Could folks try downloading this AppleScript and telling me what happens? If I'm correct, the script should work on any computer you'all have. Please do let me know if this is true!!
