I can't see clearly from your screenshot as the resolution is too low, but it looks like the URL you've got in there still has 'https' and no port.

Try the one I posted earlier - i.e.
Code: [Select]
http://192.168.0.9:8104/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=Stationcam2&pwd=1947&
Paste this into the URL text field then press the tab key to make sure it's been entered.

Go figure?   Scroll to the bottom of the page and we have an image there.

Ok  it is time for me to dig out the manual and read how to add  tags and stuff.
I am going to let the program run over night with the display shut off.

This computer is as I said something new and I might as well run it 24/7  to see if it dies or something before the warranty runs out.

As I said, I am not sure why in the program, it  shows the cannot connect error, but if it works I am going to leave that part alone.

and so the saga continues.  Well it could be worse.  My brother in law after retiring from Boeing is doing a bike ride across the US.  He started today and is still in California. Figures he will be back home in July.  peddle, peddle, and no,  Homey Doesn't do bike rides.

you are right.  I checked on my iphone and it isn't there.   It must be addressing itself from my computer to the website .  Funny   , well I just need to figure away to get the image there.  I shall continue..

Brand new Mac? (Re: webcam questions)
« Reply #34 on: April 10, 2016, 09:55:10 PM »
Dear Weatheraardvark and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

Did a screen shot of showing the browser image, the Weathercat settings and the no screen.

Unfortunately something happened to your screenshot.  It has been scaled to such a small size that It cannot be read.  Could you please send us the original screenshot taken by OS X directly?

Also, now that you have a banner up it is clear that you have a very nice Mac with a retina display.  WeatherCat doesn't run properly with retina displays. Please quit WeatherCat, find the application file and use the Get Info menu item of the Finder (which you'll find under the File menu.)  It will produce a window that will look something like this:

There will be an item somewhere in that window that has a check box saying: "run at low resolution."  Please check that box and then start WeatherCat again.  Unfortunately I cannot show you exactly what it looks like because I have older Mac without a retina display.

It might not help you with your webcam problem, but it will cause the banners and other WeatherCat displays to be generated in the correct size.  Given that your webcam problem has something to do with images, it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that making this change will solve that problem as well.

Hang in there, problems do get solved eventually.  I had one that took years!  [banghead]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

i can do that suggestion on the resolution.  I have all but given up on the webcam issue.  I am sort of exploring that maybe a different brand of web cam might be in store .   I have toyed with D-link  and getting one of the cheaper types,  then seeing if I can snag the image.

It might be something how El Capitan, Weathercat and all that play with the foscam.

Ihave ports forwarded and they work.  The other idea and it will take  considerable time is to wait for the wife to get a new pC.   She is running a vista machine, so I can snag that thing, and run the webcam from that computer and things work fine.

I am surprised at the dearth of weather and webcam apps out there that work with this version of computer and platform.

Foscam cameras work with WeatherCat (Re: webcam questions)

Dear Weatheraardvark and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

i can do that suggestion on the resolution.

This should help your WeatherCat installation in other ways.  We just had another long-time WeatherCat user run into this problem when upgrading to a brand new Mac. Here is the thread describing that:

I was certain that others have succeeded in using Foscam cameras with WeatherCat and here is one example:

There is some discussion about these cameras but I couldn't confirm another user.  Nonetheless it should be possible to make your setup work.  It appears like this is a task to set aside for now and perhaps revisit at a later time.

I am surprised at the dearth of weather and webcam apps out there that work with this version of computer and platform.

There are a number of WeatherCat users who have been using Evocam and been very happy with it:

http://www.evological.com/evocam.html

There are only 2 Weather data collection programs that are receiving active support.  A few others are hit or miss, but you are correct there isn't nearly as much support for Mac OS as Windows in this area.  While iOS is growing by leaps and bounds, OS X isn't seeing at big a boost from the decline in Windows interest - at least for the moment.

Cheers, Edouard
