Summer Holidays 2015
« on: July 12, 2015, 04:58:50 PM »
Hello folks,
We will be on holiday from 1st August 2015 until 18th August 2015 inc.

The forum and website will keep running but support and order processing may be delayed over this period, depending on if we can get an internet connection whilst we're camping.

Thanks in advance for your understanding  [tup]

Have a great vacation! And try to stay away from the interweb, or at least your compiler! :P [cheer]

Speaking of summer holiday, I just got back from my annual hike. For what it's worth, this year I completed hiking the entire 2189 miles of the Appalachian Trail section by section over 35 years. Didn't break any speed records, to say the least.

You've followed through on something I've frequently thought about but never acted on. Many congrats! Out of curiosity, did you start there in Georgia's Springer Mountain and systematically do a section each year (in order) all the way to Katahdin Mountain? Or did you do random sections at a time based on current weather or some other criterion?

Congratulations! [cheer] [tup] Accomplishing long term goals have a special reward seldom experienced by most people! Nor do I think 'speed' would have enhanced your experiences!

I only wonder why you didn't take a short detour while in Tennessee to come by for a visit to our humble abode not far from the Mighty Muddy! After all, we're only on the opposite end of the State! [lol] I can only assume you did that section of the trail before you knew where I live...
I've never seen the Trail, however, I have read about it! :-[

My apologies for the slow response to all the kind congratulatory notes! Thank you all very much. (Family came in from out of town - full house!)

I began the hike in Georgia and hiked consecutively (first step of a hike always started from the last step of the previous hike) to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Then, because the northern end of the trail is seriously more difficult and I wasn't getting any younger, I jumped up to Maine and hiked back to Harpers Ferry, also, consecutive sections. Over the years I had multiple hiking partners accompanying me, mostly family members, but, as it turns out, I solo hiked nearly a third of it.

Good question - hmm, maybe we need sister trail, Hike the Mississippi River!
