<personal opinion>In my typical cynical attitude, "you get what you pay for" (usually). But it is rare to get anything useful or continuously improved for free. I fear that many confuse who the "customer" is with Facebook, Twitter and, yes, WU, and what is their "product". We are
not their "
customer".
We are their "
product". They 'accept' our data and use that as a product to sell to advertisers in an attempt to make a profit. Nothing wrong with making a profit. However, it's fantastic to have a product that is virtually (no pun intended, of course) free! The "Internet" has becomes a very inexpensive way to get advertisers to pay to reach an audience.
We all paid for its development but its expansion and control has been passed to ever larger corporations for their use. We now have a Chairman of the FCC who has publicly opposed net neutrality and is known to be pro-business. Expect to see higher prices, slower speeds and lowered 'service'.
</personal opinion>Have a great weekend! Enjoy your weather data! I
know I enjoy the software
Stu creates and this forum that his profit supports!
